Getting Around in Dallas

Getting there

By air: The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is the third busiest airport in the world. To get from the airport to downtown Dallas, which is around 20 miles away, you can use the shared shuttle bus service. Taxis are also an option. The journey from DFW to the city centre should take approximately 25 minutes.

By train: Amtrak rail services from various US destinations arrive at Union Station in downtown Dallas. This service is called the Texas Eagle.

By bus: Greyhound buses connect Dallas with a huge number of cities across the United States, and the Greyhound terminal here is located at 205 S. Lamar.

Getting around

By train: The light rail network covers 45 miles of track across Dallas. It runs frequently and tickets are reasonably priced. A $3 day pass is available.

By trolley: The M-Line Streetcar or McKinney Avenue Trolleys run between uptown and the arts district. Operating 7 days a week, trolleys run every 15 minutes at peak times. A day pass costs $3.

On foot: While walking around some of the various districts and neighbourhoods is quite feasible, you will need to use public transport to get around the city as a whole.
